BODEGAS ESTRAUNZA is located within the Rioja Alavesa in Lapuebla de Labarca.
Lapuebla de Labarca is the smallest town inside the Rioja Alaves, on the banks of the river Ebro in the most southerly part of Alava.
The locality was established to serve the town of Laguardia, of which it formed a part, given that it had a river crossing which was used to connect la Sonsierra in the Kingdom of Navarra with Castilla.Lapuebla gets its name from the boat which was used to cross the river but which was later replaced by a wire suspension bridge, and then by the current ciment bridge which was constructed in 1939.
The Wineries, dating from the XVII and XVIII centuries and commonly known as “las cuebas” (the caves), go deep inside the hill located to the east of the village and this is where most of the town’s wine is stored.
